Roland, renowned electronic musical instruments and professional video products manufacturer, has joined with Melodics, an online music education platform, to launch the Beat Maker Sample Pack x Melodics Series. This unique collaboration offers a collection of expertly curated sample content from international artists and supplementary lessons to help enhance finger drumming skills on the SP-404MKII Creative Sampler and Effector, a premier instrument in the field. The series starts with the release of Messy Samples by Lionclad, now available for users to explore.
Messy Samples by Lionclad showcases the finger drumming expertise of Seoul-based producer Lionclad in a distinctive sample selection. The compilation includes a variety of pre-recorded lo-fi backbeats, laid-back hip-hop grooves, and unconventional rhythms that users can enjoy as-is or utilize to create fresh remixes and compositions. This sample pack, organized into eight banks of ready-to-play loops and one-shot samples, can be easily loaded into the SP-404MKII as a project.
The 128 DAW-ready WAV files can also be imported into a user’s preferred music production software and hardware samplers. Each file is labeled with key and tempo information to simplify the workflow. As part of the partnership, five additional beat maker sample packs will be released, each featuring exclusive Melodics lessons for the SP-404MKII. These lessons give finger drummers real-time feedback on their rhythm and timing through a desktop and iPad app that combines Duolingo and Guitar Hero elements.
Roland and Melodics initiated their collaboration in 2018 with Melodics for V-Drums, a desktop app that offers premium lesson content and seamless integration with Roland V-Drum sound modules. Melodics provides Roland drummers with a visual approach to music education, featuring finger drumming and electronic percussion courses focused on contemporary music styles. With the launch of the Beat Maker Sample Pack + Melodics Series, the partnership aims to broaden users’ finger drumming abilities on the SP-404MKII.
