Tip of the hat to Steve Aoki for using his EDM culture celebrity for a good cause. A little while back Aoki announced his initiative called “The Steve Aoki Charitable Fund” and today we hear that all collected proceeds from his recent sold-out birthday bash at the Shrine (here in Los Angeles), the memorabilia he auctioned and the money he’s going to personally match (up to $35,000, a $1000 for every year in Steve’s age) will be donated to Shelterbox USA.

I’ve been saving up all my tour clothes, shoes, jeans, shirts, whatever has survived my insane tour schedule and will be auctioning off all these clothes where all the money raised will go towards the Steve Aoki Charitable Fund -Steve Aoki
If Aoki’s actions have you feeling like giving a little yourself, there are a couple of ways to donate and participate. You can visit the auction page and bid on featured items from Aoki’s personal closet or make a tax-deductible donation directly to the fund. Most importantly, you can democratically decide where the money will go from a list of five hand-picked charities from different regions. Every year there will be a new list of charities researched and selected by Aoki.
Holiday time means tax time… and your donations are tax deductible, so giddyup and get down with a good cause.
