Recently relocated SoCal homie Falcon Punch has been a recognizable face around here for a while and is gradually making a name for himself across the web and map. From disco edits to full-on remixes and original productions, Falcon Punch, better known as Avery Henderson, seems to be getting better and better with each and every one. I’ve wanted to feature him on the site for far too long, so I figured it was about time. He did this wonderful mixtape for us, but I’ll say no more and let him take it from here…
“I always try to think of the setting where the mix would be played before I dig for the tracks. The idea behind this mix was “Cocktail Hour Disco.” The tracks are light overall but definitely have some bight, as every cocktail party is always struggling to be civil as the night continues into debauchery. There was the overall idea behind the mix—to create a vibe that had a relaxed mood but was simultaneously tensioned into wanting to hit the dancefloor from time to time. I’m really stoked on how this one turned out, it’s a little shorter than my usual mixes but I didn’t want to diminish quality at the sake of making it a standard hour length.” -Avery
